 Learn from Phil Parkes, expert in making historical traditional maille (chainmail), on this 8 week course with a small group.

Phil won 2024 Wales Maker of the Year for his work in creating handmade traditional maille and promoting and teaching this critically endangered craft.
At the end of the course you will have created your own 14th century style maille standard (collar and shoulder armour) from commercially produced rings to take away and wear. Whether you are a re-enactor, role player, or want a statement piece to wear to parties, this is for you!
You will need patience and hand skills at working with small items and it involves some repetitive movements - if you make models, build Warhammer or make jewellery you can do this!
All materials - rings and a linen collar - are included for your finished product, tools are provided to use for the duration of the course, and Phil is always on hand to help.
There may be some work to do at home after the first couple of sessions, finishing off pieces started during the lesson.

 

This ticket is for the full 8 week course

Refunds will be subject to a £5 administration fee.

Any request for a refund two weeks or less before the event will only be possible if there is a reserve list of players who can take up any refunded ticket and at the express permission of the Tournament Organisers.

Any request for a Refund must be made before the event starts. No refunds are possible once an event has begun.

A vending machine selling soft drinks and snacks, a licensed bar and a vending machine dispensing fresh tea and coffee is available in The South Wales Gaming Centre.

Our on-site cafe will be open during its specified opening hours serving hot and cold food.

No external food or drink is allowed in The South Wales Gaming Centre.
